Michelle DeMarta, DMD

“I am committed to staying abreast of new technologies and techniques. Things are improving all the time, but I make it a point to review the research carefully. Just because something is new doesn’t necessarily make it better.”

A third-generation Californian, Dr. DeMarta was born in San Francisco and grew up in Fremont. Working as a dental assistant for her first job in high school, she decided to continue her training, first as a dental hygienist and then for her doctorate in medical dentistry from Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. Dr. DeMarta has been in practice for more than 20 years and moved her office to its current location in 2009. A self-confessed education “junkie,” Dr. DeMarta is a member of a professional dental study club and estimates she logs more than 100 hours of dental continuing education every year to stay abreast of the changes in the field. She lives in Palo Alto with her son and daughter.

Kerri

Office Manager

Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Kerri spent more than 20 years in the hospitality industry before making the switch to dentistry in 2000. She joined DeMarta Dental in 2006, transitioning her skills and experience, strong work ethic, and personal philosophy in proactive preventative health care. She almost joined the circus in 1988, but today she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, dancing, biking, traveling, and entertaining.

Tonya

Registered Dental Assistant

Tonya was born in Charleston, South Carolina. She moved to the Bay Area with her husband, John, in 2007. Having been a dental assistant for over 35 years, she really enjoys being chair side with patients and has developed a passion for making the dental experience a comfortable and pleasant one. In her spare time, Tonya enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, gardening, cooking and crafting.

Maryam

Registered Dental Hygienist

Maryam was born in Iran and grew up in the U.S. After working in a dental office during her high school years she became interested in the field of dentistry. She also works at a periodontal office, where she has refined her professional philosophy for optimal dental health. Maryam has a master’s degree in nutrition and has been a registered dental hygienist for 21 years—14 of those years with Dr. DeMarta’s practice. She spends her personal time with her husband and daughters, and is refining her skills on her newest passion, making French macaroons.

Megan

Registered Dental Hygienist

Megan was born and raised in the Bay Area. She has been a dedicated RDH for 6 years, with a passion for making patients feel comfortable and safe during their visits. A graduate of the UOP Dugoni School of Dentistry with a bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene, she combines expert care with a gentle touch. Outside the office she enjoys all things Disney, traveling to Hawaii with her husband and expressing her creativity through her nail art hobby.

Laura

Registered Dental Assistant

Laura was born in Yakima, Washington but raised in Menlo Park. Her family moved to the area when she was 5 years old. She has been an assistant for 20 years and is passionate about her work. Laura joined DeMarta Dental in 2015 and is a full time front desk coordinator but every now and then she gets the opportunity to jump in the back office to assist. She enjoys spending time with her family, husband and daughter and loves to cross stitch.

Karina

Registered Dental Hygienist

While growing up in the Bay Area, Karina’s dentist let her watch the procedures done on her parents, which inspired both her interest in dentistry and her friendly and welcoming manner. Her focus is on education so that patients can take control of their own oral health, and she credits the teamwork approach at DeMarta Dental in providing excellent patient care. Karina relaxes by biking, exploring nature, and making her own unique jewelry.
